Head's welcome

Some description

Welcome to Elvetham Heath Primary School, situated in the heart of the Elvetham Heath development in Fleet.

I have been Headteacher of Elvetham Heath Primary School since January 2014, having been head of another local school for almost 12 years. The staff, governors and parents work in partnership to provide the children of EHPS the best possible primary school experience.

The school was built in 3 phases, opening in 2001 with just 49 pupils, and continued to grow to a 3-form entry, with approximately 640 children aged 4 to 11currently on roll. It is one of the largest primary schools in Hampshire, and has a very good reputation locally. Despite being over-subscribed, there are no plans for the school to expand any further.

In addition to the 21 classrooms, there are two halls, a food technology room, music, drama and ICT rooms, and an all-weather astro pitch outside. Visitors are always very impressed with our facilities.

Most of the children who attend the school come from the immediate catchment area, where there is a mixture of owner-occupied, shared ownership and social housing. Approximately 6% of pupils are eligible for the pupil premium.

We have a strong staff team – approximately 100 people work at the school, and they are friendly and hard-working, and determined to help the children to do their best and experience many different opportunities throughout their time at school.

We use the language of virtues (our core 5 are Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance, Honesty and Kindness), and we encourage a growth mindset approach to learning – “I can’t do it …YET.” We use our Character Education approach to help children to be the best version of themselves and to be reflective and positive, in and out of school.

If you pay us a visit, I am sure you will be impressed. Although the school is large, it is very friendly and has a welcoming ethos. We look forward to meeting you soon.
